Vietnamese culture highlighted in Germany

The Vietnamese community in the German city of Potsdam has been given the chance to host the local Asian Culture Festival for the first time in August.
The Vietnamese community in the German city of Potsdam has beengiven the chance to host the local Asian Culture Festival for the firsttime in August.

At a press briefing on July 12,the organising board said the decision was prompted by the fact that theVietnamese community is the third largest foreign community inBrandenburg State and has made many contributions to the multi-ethnicculture in Germany in general and in Potsdam in particular.

The Thang Long Business Association, an organisation of Vietnamesebusinesspeople in Potsdam , will work together with the Friends ofFriendship Island Association (Freunde der Freundschaftsinsel e.V) toorganise the festival on the popular Friendship Island in Potsdamon August 3.

The Director of Thang Long BusinessAssociation, Nguyen Quoc Hung, who is the head of the organising boardsaid the festival would be a good chance for Vietnam to introducethe country’s people, landscape, and culture to international friends.

The festival, with the slogan of “Fire and Water”will depict Vietnamese culture through music and dance, martial artsperformances, an Ao dai (traditional long dress) fashion show and a foodfestival.

A two-week exhibition featuring Zenpoetries under Ly and Tran dynasties and Vietnam ’s handicrafts andsouvenirs will also be held on this occasion.

Many businesses committed a total of 10,000 EUR in donations to the event.-VNA
