Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese embassies celebratedthe upcoming Lunar New Year festival on January 15.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy NguyenThi Bich Hue said with an economic growth rate of 7 percent last year, Vietnamremained a spotlight in the region and the world, placing among 20 economiescontributing most to the global growth.

She informed that Italian Secretary of State for ForeignAffairs Manlio Di Stefano will visit Vietnam in the time to come to conductdeputy ministerial-level political consultation and co-chair the sixth meetingof the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation, thus further deepeningbilateral political and economic links.

Hue thanked the overseas Vietnamese for their contributions,and hoped that they will serve as an effective bridge between the two nations,maintain Vietnamese language and bring Vietnam closer to Italy.

Participants were treated to music performances andtraditional Vietnamese food.

Similar events were also held in Bangladesh Myanmar andMalaysia./.

Intellectual cooperation deepens Vietnam–France relations: expert

Dr Frederic Roustan highlighted the importance of scientific and intellectual cooperation, saying that despite ups and downs in bilateral diplomatic, political and economic relations over the decades, connections between French and Vietnamese scientists and intellectuals have been maintained, contributing to exchanges between the two countries.

Ministry proposes seven-day 2027 Lunar New Year holiday

Under the Ministry of Home Affairs' proposal, civil servants and public employees in Vietnam would receive five statutory days off, including two days before and three days after the Lunar New Year. As two of those days fall on the weekend, they would receive two additional compensatory days off, bringing the total holiday to seven consecutive days.
