Paris (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in France has sent a working team to Coquelles commune in France’s Pas de Calais region where local authorities are detaining 12 people believed to be Vietnamese to verify the information and conduct necessary citizen protection activities.

On February 7, French authorities raided a camp in Angres near the northern city of Lensand and inspected some vans crossing English Channel to the UK, during which they arrested a group of a dozen people.

Local police thought that the group includes some Vietnamese citizens and informed the Vietnamese Embassy of the case.

The embassy has provided some necessities to the detained people whose mental and physical health is in stable condition.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese Embassy representatives worked with authorities of Calais city, affirming that the process of information verification will be conducted in line with the agreement on receiving Vietnamese citizens signed between the two countries.

The embassy is working closely with the French side on the case, while prompting the verification of information to launch suitable citizen protection activities.-VNA
