Dhaka (VNA) – The Vietnam Embassy in Bangladesh has organised a get-together for the overseas Vietnamese community on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, which took place earlier this month.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Tran Van Khoa lauded the community’s involvement in activities celebrating 45 years of the Vietnam – Bangladesh diplomatic relations in 2018.

He encouraged the expats to continue supporting each other in overcoming difficulties and contribute to building their home country and fostering the bilateral friendship.

Featuring musical performances and Vietnamese signature dishes, the event helped to connect the Vietnamese expats and left a strong impression on participating Bangladeshi friends.

Sanjida Haque, a Bangladeshi heritage official, said it is the first time she has experienced Vietnam’s traditional Tet celebration, adding that she is impressed by the colourful ao dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) and local food.

She said thanks to promotion efforts made by the embassy and expat community, Vietnamese culinary delights and culture are becoming more popular among Bangladeshis and foreigners in the country.-VNA
