Ottawa (VNA) – Hundreds of Vietnamese expatriates, officials fromthe Vietnamese representative offices in Canada and international friendsgathered to welcome Vietnam’s traditional Tet holiday at a celebration held inToronto, the capital of Canada’s Ontario province, on January 27.
Earlier, Vietnamese people in Ottawa and Montreal and cities also met on thethreshold of Lunar New Year 2018.
Delivering Tet greetings to the participants, Vietnamese Ambassador to CanadaNguyen Duc Hoa underlined significant events for the two countries in 2017.
Both sides have enjoyed important breakthroughs in their relations, which wereillustrated through the official visits to Vietnam made by Canadian PrimeMinister Justin Trudeau and Premier of Ontario Kathleen Wynne and variousvisits of officials and local authorities from the two countries, Hoa said.
The diplomat affirmed the overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable partof the nation. The country will create favourable conditions for Vietnameseexpatriates, including those in Cadana, to return home and invest, contributingto national development.
This was the second time the Vietnamese people in Ottwa, Montreal and Torontoenjoyed art performances staged by artists from the Youth (Tuoi tre) Theatre.-VNA
