Budapest (VNA) – Vietnam’s National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and Speaker of the Hungary National Assembly Kovér László co-chaired an opening session of a legal talk in Budapest, Hungary, on April 11 during the former’s official visit to the country.

The talk has the theme “Perfecting laws during the international integration process” and is the first between the two parliaments facilitated by their cooperation agreement signed in 2008.

Opening the event, Ngan said Vietnam has reaped enormous achievements over the past 30 years of renewal and has been embarking on extensive and intensive international integration.

Building a legal system to speed up that integration process is extremely important, the Vietnam leader said, affirmed that the country will continue refining its law-making process to meet higher requirements of the renovation and integration efforts.

Vietnam wants to share and learn experience in building and perfecting the legal system from other countries, especially the countries having similar development circumstances, she said.

She hailed Hungary for its successful transformation and integration as well as its rich experience in reforming laws to fit the new developmental period.

She stressed that Vietnam is having new opportunities for renewal and boosting cooperation with the European Union, especially after the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement is ratified.

Kovér László noted that the relations between Vietnam and Hungary are growing, with frequent high-level visits made in recent years and Hungary regards Vietnam a strategic partner in Southeast Asia.

He affirmed that the parliamentary cooperation is important to the affiliation between the two governments and the parliaments’ cooperation agreement signed in 2008 laid down a foundation for them to ratchet up their partnership, including the organisation of this talk.

Both host and guest showed their belief that at the function, legislators, ministry and locality officials, experts and managers share many valuable information and experience together with discussing issues of mutual concern in a straight manner.

They hoped that talks and discussions between the two parliaments will be organized in the respective countries in the coming time to help the countries’ nation-building course.

Deputy Speaker of the Hungary National Assembly Gulyas Gergely introduced participants to legal regulations on his country’s law-making process and law issuance.

Under the co-chair of Gulyás Gergely and Chairman of the Vietnam National Assembly’s Committee for External Relation Nguyen Van Giau, legislators and officials discussed a wide range of issues, including Hungary’s economic development policy and legal regulations promoting competitiveness, and Vietnam’s tax policy and legal regulations on budget and budget management, labour, science and technology, among others.
