The Overseas Vietnamese Association in Oudomxay Province and Vietnamese investors in northern Laos on May 24 raised a total of 140 million VND (approximately 7,000 USD), to help people and soldiers in Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.
Attending the meeting, Nguyen Manh Hung, Vietnamese Ambassador in Laos, pledged to transfer the proceeds to Truong Sa as soon as possible.
He updated the Vietnamese community in the province about the situation in Vietnam, the Party and State’s policies to overseas Vietnamese and the preferential policies for overseas Vietnamese in Laos in education.
On the behalf of overseas Vietnamese in Oudomxay province, Phi Van Mai, the President of Overseas Vietnamese Association in the province, said that while living far away from the homeland, the Vietnamese people in Laos still think about Truong Sa with all their heart.-VNA
