Vietnam’s Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, and his Kazakh counterpart, Kairat Sarybay, have met for the annual political consultation at the deputy foreign minister level.

The meeting took place during the Vietnamese Deputy FM’s visit to Kazakhstan on April 5-6.

They reviewed bilateral cooperation in the past, including the implementation of agreements reached during Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s visit to Kazakhstan in 2009 and President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s visit to Vietnam in 2011.

Both diplomats worked on ways to boost the Vietnam-Kazakhstan relations, focusing on economic and trade cooperation between both countries, especially in the oil and gas sector.

The two Deputy FMs also worked on measures to boost cooperation between the two foreign ministries and to work together at regional and international forums, including the UN and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

During his visit to Kazakhstan , Deputy FM Son also met with senior officials from the Kazakh Presidential Office.-VNA
