Vietnamese, Lao localities forge stronger collaboration

The central province of Quang Nam’s Nam Giang district and Laos’ Dakcheung district in Sekong province agreed to expand their collaboration, especially in agriculture, during an annual meeting.

The central province of Quang Nam’s Nam Giang district and Laos’ Dakcheung district in Sekong province agreed to expand their collaboration, especially in agriculture, during an annual meeting in Nam Giang on September 8.

Apart from cooperating in developing crop plant varieties and breeding stock as well as trading farm produce, the two localities will encourage their residents and enterprises to increase exchanges and trade as well as affiliation in infrastructure building and investment.

The two districts committed to further creating favourable conditions for their agencies and localities sides to implement partnership agreements while setting twin relations among villages to promote mutual friendship and support, thus fostering ties between Quang Nam and Sekong.

In recent years, Nam Giang-Dakcheung cooperation has been fruitful across fields, including defence and security.

Both sides have effectively maintained the Vietnam-Laos agreement on border regulations by organising regular joint patrols, safeguarding border markers and strengthening mutual friendship.

So far this year, authorised agencies of both sides cleared procedures for more than 30,000 people and 3,000 vehicles crossing the Nam Giang border gate for visits and goods exchanges.-VNA
