The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and the Lao news agency KPL have agreed to continue improving the quality of their daily exchanged news and furthering the popularisation of the Vietnam-Laos special relationship in 2014.
The two sides reached the agreement during talks between visiting VNA General Director Nguyen Duc Loi and his KPL counterpart Sounthone Khanthavong in Vientiane on November 14.
They also agreed that next year, they will enhance the dissemination of information on the land and people of each country as well as the political and socio-economic situation in the region and the world, while increasing professional exchanges between their reporters and technicians.
VNA will continue to cooperate with KPL in issuing Vietnam Pictorial in the Lao language and help improve technical facilities for the Lao news agency.
The Lao side pledged its aid to help VNA’s Vnews television channel be broadcast on Laos’ cable system.
The two sides agreed to consult Vietnamese and Lao relevant ministries in the training of their reporters and editors in order to intensify bilateral cooperation.
VNA General Director Nguyen Duc Loi took the occasion thank KPL for its support to VNA to be a member of the executive board of the Organisation of Asia-Pacific News Agencies as well as for favourable conditions it has given to VNA’s permanent reporters in Vientiane.
The Lao host also acknowledged VNA’s assistance in helping KPL publish the Lao Pictorial.
Later the same day, the VNA delegation visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos.-VNA
