Vietnamese law firm Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers (Vietnam) has together with seven law firms in other countries, formed a one-stop legal service provider named Rajah & Tann Asia.
The other firms are R&T Sok Heng Law Office (Cambodia), Assegaf Hamzah & Partners (Indonesia), Rajah & Tann (Laos) Sole Co Ltd, Christopher & Lee Ong (Malaysia), Rajah & Tann NK Legal Myanmar Company Limited, Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP, and Rajah & Tann (Thailand) Limited.
In an interview to Vietnam News Agency’s Singapore-based journalist, Managing Partner of Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers (Vietnam) Chau Huy Quang said by joining Rajah & Tann Asia, his company planned to provide clients with services relating to jurisdictions not only of Vietnam but also of other countries in the region.
All the individual firms within the network collectively have 11 offices in the major cities in Southeast Asia as well as Shanghai. They comprise law practices in 8 out of the 10 ASEAN countries and include regional desks focused on Japan and South Asia. This is expected to help the Asia law firm strengthen its areas of practice.
Rajah & Tann Asia comprises more than 500 fee earners, and is the largest legal services provider in Southeast Asia. It is the first legal services provider spanning the region that is fully owned, controlled and operated by Southeast Asian lawyers.
At a ceremony held in Singapore on Aug. 21 to launch Rajah & Tann Asia, Lee Eng Beng, Chairman of Rajah & Tann Asia, said that one of the catalysts for the formation of Rajah & Tann Asia was the impending launch of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015, which is poised to create enormous opportunities for intra-regional trade and commerce for clients across the region.-VNA
