Vietnamese maritime search, rescue team saves unconscious sailors

A 62 year-old sailor who went into coma while working on Panamanian ship Oriental Jade received timely treatment in Nha Trang after he was taken ashore by Vietnam MRCC on August 9.

Khanh Hoa (VNA) – A 62 year-old sailor who went into coma whileworking on Panamanian ship Oriental Jade received timely treatment in thecentral coastal city of Nha Trang after he was taken ashore by the VietnamMaritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (Vietnam MRCC) on August 9.

F.Zeletic developed high blood pressure and blood vomit and lost consciousnesswhen ship Oriental Jade was 141 nautical miles southeast of Nha Trang city’sshore. It was en the route to the Republic of Korea.

Receiving healthcare support request from the Captain of ship Oriental Jade,the Vietnam MRCC gave first aid advice before dispatching its rescue vessel tobring the man ashore.

The same day, Nguyen Van Vuong, a 27 years-old man from the central province ofNghe An, was also saved by the Vietnam MRCC after becoming unconscious whileworking on Palau’s ship Lucky Star 8.

Snapped by a crane cable from 10 metres height, Vuong suffered a severe traumain his head and a stress shoulder fracture and he was then knocked unconscious.

At that time, the ship was 155 nautical miles southeast of Nha Trang city whileits was en the route from Malaysia to Hong Kong (China).-VNA

Da Nang to replace 1,140 dilapidated houses by May 2025

Nearly 9,000 blood units collected at red spring festival

First launched in 2008 to address post-Tet blood shortages, the festival expanded nationwide in 2010 under the direction of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign. Over 17 editions, the festival has attracted hundreds of thousands of donors across the nation, with the Hanoi event – hosted by the institute – collecting nearly 120,000 blood units.
