Vietnamese naval ship joins multilateral exercise in Indonesia

Jakarta (VNA) - Ship 09 of the Naval Region 2’s Brigade 171 participated in the parade within the framework of the Komodo 2025 Multilateral Naval Exercise (MNEK 2025) that kicked off at Benoa Port, Indonesia, on February 16.

The 5th Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo (MNEK) drew the participation of approximately 3,000 naval personnel from 37 countries and 40 warships, including 17 from Indonesia.

The exercise aims to promote an open, inclusive, and resilient Indo-Pacific region, focusing on coordinated search and rescue operations to enhance collective response to regional contingencies. The Vietnamese Navy is actively involved in maritime security seminars, command and staff exercises ashore, drills at sea, and various cultural and sports exchanges.

Indonesian Navy Rear Admiral Yayan Sofiyan said MNEK 2025 is organised within the framework of humanitarian assistance, contributing to regional and global stability, as well as natural disaster management.

Beyond tactical training, the event offers opportunities for participating nations to strengthen diplomatic relations and international cooperation. Activities include public tours of warships, defence exhibitions, the 6th International Maritime Security Symposium, engineering civic action programs, and community healthcare services./.

NA’s 9th extraordinary session wraps up

Speaking at the closing ceremony, NA Chairman Man stated that the session, which lasted six and a half days, adopted multiple laws and resolutions aimed at reorganising the state apparatus and accelerating socio-economic development.

Resolution adjusting 2025 socio-economic development plan adopted

Under the resolution, the legislative body decided to adjust some key targets. Accordingly, the gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate is set to reach 8% or higher, with the GDP scale this year expected to exceed 500 billion USD. The GDP per capita is projected to surpass 5,000 USD, and the average consumer price index (CPI) growth rate is targeted to be around 4.5 - 5%.

According to the resolution, the construction of a modern and harmonious railway aims to meet the transport demand between Vietnam and China. NA deputies to approve several resolutions, laws on February 19

The deputies will pass a resolution addressing issues related to the streamlining of the political system’s organisational apparatus, a resolution on supplementation to the 2025 socio-economic development plan with a growth target of at least 8%, and another on pilot policies to remove barriers in science-technology research and innovation activities.
