Vietnamese noodles named among Asia’s best by CNN Travel

Three types of Vietnamese noodles found a place on a list of Asia’s best noodles put together by CNN Travel to provide a beginner’s guide to popular Asian noodles made from ingredients such as rice, starch, wheat, and vegetables.

Hanoi (VNA) - Three types of Vietnamese noodles found a place on a list ofAsia’s best noodles put together by CNN Travel to provide a beginner’s guide topopular Asian noodles made from ingredients such as rice, starch, wheat, and vegetables.

“Pho” noodlesare said to be a thinner version of flat noodles, made from rice and like luxurioussilk bedding - slippery and comforting.

“Bun”,meanwhile, are rice stick noodles and worshipped for their slippery texture andmild fragrance. CNN Travel wrote that “bun” is oftenserved cold with grilled meat, herbs, and a diluted vinegary fish sauce fordipping in Vietnam.

Last butnot least, “Cao lau” rice noodles are a speciality of Hoi An ancient town incentral Vietnam.

“Cao lau”is a “soup noodle dish consisting of Chinese-influenced sliced barbecue pork,French-influenced fried croutons, and a variety of rice noodles,” according to CNNTravel.

“To make ‘caolau’ looks simple but a lot depends on the timing and processing,” said TrinhDiem Vy, a celebrity chef, food writer, and owner of nine restaurants in HoiAn.

Old longgrain rice is used to make the firm noodles, with water taken only from anancient well in the town called Ba Le Well.

“Mineralsfrom the water provide the right elements for the noodle’s texture,” said Vy.

Afterkneaded into a dough it is thinly sliced and steamed over a flame to bring outthe unique yellowish hue and springy texture./.

Vietnam to waive visas for citizens from 12 countries

The resolution clearly states that citizens of Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Russia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland will be exempted from visas for a temporary stay period of 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type and purpose of entry, on the basis of fully meeting the entry conditions as prescribed by Vietnam’s laws.
