Ba Ria-Vung Tau (VNA) – Riders participating in the 15th Binh Duong International Women’s Cycling Tournament – Biwase Cup 2025 completed stage 6 on March 17, covering the 115km route from La Gi township in Binh Thuan province to Vung Tau city in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
This year’s race has a total length of 1,158km and features 24 domestic and international teams. With key jerseys including yellow, green, polka dot, and white at stake, the tournament presents significant challenges, including eight mountain passes such as Ru Ri, Ro Tuong, Luong Son, Cu Hin, and Vinh Hy. Beyond a platform for showcasing talent, the event fosters cultural exchange and international cooperation.
Stage 6 provided an opportunity for cyclists to demonstrate both skills and strategies while promoting the scenic landscapes along the route. Local authorities worked closely with the organisers to ensure road safety, accommodations, route security, and medical support.
Right from the start, Thach Thi Ngoc Thao of Dong Thap Lottery team launched an early breakaway, forming a leading group of seven riders, including international contenders from the Philippines, Thailand, and Chinese Taipei.
Thailand’s Napassorn Panyawuthikrai played a key role in pushing the group ahead, establishing a gap of nearly two minutes over the peloton.
However, with the white jersey under threat, Phan Bon Con Voi Binh Duong (Binh Duong Elephant Fertilisers) and Loc Troi An Giang tightened tactics, reeled in the breakaway with 30km remaining, and set the stage for a fierce sprint finish.
At the line, Asian champion Jutatip Maneephan of Thailand made the first move, but Nguyen Thi That of the Loc Troi An Giang team surged past in a decisive sprint to claim her second consecutive stage victory.
Final results for Stage 6 saw Nguyen Thi That take first place, followed by Kasuga Watabe (Phan Bon Con Voi) in second, and Nguyen Thị Thu Mai in third.
With this result, Nguyen Thi That strengthened her grip on the green jersey, while Natalia Frolova (Biwase Binh Duong) retained both yellow and polka dot jerseys after six stages.
On March 18, riders will embark on Stage 7, a 120km route from Vung Tau to Thu Dau Mot city in Binh Duong province, a crucial stage drawing keen interest from fans and experts alike./.
