President Truong Tan Sang has called on Russian localities and Vietnamese cities, provinces and businesses to expand their cooperation in areas of their strength on the basis of the fruitful friendship between the two countries.

At a reception for visiting Governor of Moscow province (Moscow Oblast) Andrei Vorobyov in Hanoi on October 22, the State leader stressed that Vietnam attaches great importance to relations with traditional friends, including Russia.

Apart from oil and gas, Vietnam is keen to join hands with Russia in other fields, not only in the country but in other Southeast Asian nations, he said.

President Sang expressed his belief that with the support of the Governor and Russian relevant agencies, there will be more projects in respective countries, including those on food run by Vietnamese businesses in Russia.

The host said he believes Vorobyov’s visit will be a success, contributing to concretising commitments made by Vietnamese and Russian leaders and enhancing the traditional friendship between the two countries.

President Sang asked the Governor to convey his greetings to President Putin and people of Russia.

In response, Andrei Vorobyov expressed his strong impressions of Vietnam’s socio-economic development, particularly a handful of localities like the central province of Nghe An, where he had a field trip.

The Governor said his visit aimed to work with Vietnamese ministries, sectors and enterprises to establish a Vietnamese industrial zone in Moscow province specialising dairy production and light industry products.

Russia will create best possible conditions for Vietnamese businesses to invest in Moscow province and wishes to speed up the construction of the Russian-invested Ninh Thuan nuclear power project in Vietnam while strengthening cooperation with the country in petro-chemistry, he said.-VNA
