Vietnamese students in Paris raise funds for Motherland’s islands

On April 6th, at the Vietnam Cultural Centre in Paris, the Association of Vietnamese Students and Youth in France organised a charity fair to raise funds for the homeland's sea and islands.

The event saw a large turnout of overseas Vietnamese, students, and Vietnamese officials working in Paris.

The fair featured a variety of items, including second-hand clothes, charming souvenirs, and freshly printed books and stories. All items that were still usable or could be sold for money were brought by Vietnamese students in France to the second-hand market. The proceeds from these sales were donated to support the residents and soldiers stationed on the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands.

The event was organised on April 6 and 14. The proceeds will be used to purchase seawater filtration systems to produce drinking water for people on the far-flung Vietnamese islands, buy seedlings to reforest the islands, or be directly sent to the soldiers and residents on the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa Islands.

Every year, alongside organising scientific, educational, sports, and cultural activities for Vietnamese youth and students in France, the Union of Vietnamese Students in France (UEVF) allocates a portion of its funds for charity work in Vietnam.

Occasionally, the union also conducts fundraising events to support orphans and people with disabilities in Vietnam. In addition, volunteer activities are always maintained.

This year, to mark the 20th anniversary of the union's establishment, the Union of Vietnamese Students in France is not only organizing a series of activities aimed at students and youth but also expanding to attract more participants both domestically and abroad./.
