Vietnamese students receive AEON 1% Club Foundation Scholarships

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - The AEON 1% Club Foundationgranted 60 scholarships to Vietnamese university students at a ceremony onDecember 6.

Yoshiki Mori, Chairman of the AEON 1% Club Foundation, said theAEON 1% Club Foundation Scholarship was an allowance-based scholarship foruniversity students in various Asian countries and self-financed Asian studentsstudying in Japan.

The project, designed to “Support the Dreams of Asian Students”,was started in 2006 in the hope that recipients will play an active role in thefuture, connecting their home countries with Japan in their respectivespecialist fields. In addition to year-round financial support, the projectoffers opportunities for various curricula and volunteer activities aimed atscholarship students in Japan and provides support for students aiming todevelop into global talents.

In Vietnam, the AEON 1% Club Foundation Scholarship has beenawarded to a total of 1,140 university students, including students fromuniversities in Hanoi since 2012 and those in HCM City since 2011.

This year in Hanoi, students from the Vietnam National University,the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Foreign Trade Universityand the Vietnam National University of Agriculture were honoured to receive thescholarships.

At the Scholarship Certificate Granting Ceremony, students awardedscholarships gave speeches on their personal dreams and goals.

“The scholarship is not only a practical aid in terms of financebut also a meaningful stimulus for us to keep going on our career paths torealise our dreams,” said Dinh Ngoc Mai, a junior student at Foreign TradeUniversity, majoring in International Business Economics.

“2022 is also the year celebrating the 49th anniversary of Vietnam- Japan diplomatic relationship. It serves as both the most tangible example ofthe two countries' long-standing friendship and collaboration as well as areflection of the AEON Group's strong corporate social responsibility in Vietnam,”Mai said.

The AEON 1% Club Foundation was established in 1989 in Japan. Itengages in projects with the three main themes of “Sound Development of theNext Generation, Promotion of Friendship with Foreign Countries and SustainableDevelopment of Regional Communities”.

Since its establishment, the AEON 1% Club Foundation Scholarshiphas supported roughly 8,000 students from 38 universities and colleges acrossJapan, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia and Myanmar./.

Authorities race to rescue victims of tourist boat sinking in Ha Long Bay

As of 6:00 pm, rescue teams had saved two more individuals from a tourist boat that sank in Ha Long Bay, bringing the total number of people rescued - both passengers and crew member - to 12. 6th global Vietnamese young intellectuals forum opens in Hanoi
