Vietnamese to receive special welcome in RoK this September

The Korean Tourism Organisation (KTO) will run a campaign on welcoming Vietnamese tourists to the Republic of Korea (RoK) which will last for a week from September 2 to 8, according to KTO Vietnam.

Hanoi (VNA) - The Korean Tourism Organisation(KTO) will run a campaign on welcoming Vietnamese tourists to the Republic ofKorea (RoK) which will last for a week from September 2 to 8, according to KTOVietnam.  

As part of the campaign, the KTO will hold a series ofactivities specially designed to support Vietnamese visitors in the RoK likewelcoming events at the airports; and check-in guide in Vietnamese at the Incheoninternational airport’s Terminal 1.

Information counters will be set up serving Vietnamesetravelers at the Incheon and Gimhae airport and a number of touristdestinations in Seoul and Busan. Vietnamese tourists will be offered presentsand discount coupons of 20-40 percent when buying tickets to well known tourismsites like Lotte World, Everland and Petite France, or when using certainservices such as Eland Cruise or Songdo Marine Cable Car.

Meanwhile, tourists either free independent travelers or membersof package tours organised by travel companies participating in the KTO’ssummer campaign will be treated to various gifts.

Park Jong Sun, head of the KTO's representative office inVietnam, said the impressive growth of Vietnamese visitors has made Vietnam oneof key markets in the RoK tourism sector’s Southern Policy, hence theorganisation of the campaign.

According to the organisation’s statistics, in the past fiveyears, the number of Vietnamese tourists to the RoK grew about 34.1 percent annuallyon average, the highest among central and eastern Asian countries. In the firsteight months of 2019, the RoK hosted about 370,000 Vietnamese visitors, up 25.7percent on-year.-VNA

Do Ha Thao, Secretary in charge of cultural affairs at the embassy, said that visitors show great interest in the Vietnamese booth, asking for information about tours and promotional programmes. Some of the visitors had previously been to Vietnam and wish to return.

Binh Thuan province remains tourist magnet

In the first three months, the province welcomed 2.6 million visitors, including 152,000 foreigners, up nearly 14% and 17% year-on-year, respectively. Tourism revenue surpassed 7 trillion VND, marking a year-on-year rise of 16%.
