Vietnamese weightlifter Thach Kim Tuan on June 21 set two new world records at the ongoing World Junior Championships in Athletics in Kazan, the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia.
In the first day of competition, Tuan trounced his Thai and Italian rivals to win a gold medal in the 56kg event after lifting 133kg in the snatch category, 1 kg more than the previous world record.
Tuan also came first in the clean and jerk as he lifted 160kg. The Vietnamese weightlifter , overall, set a new world record with a total lift of 293kg.
World Junior Championships in Athletics is taking place in Kazan from June 21-28 with the participation of 336 athletes from 53 countries and territories competing for 15 sets of medals.-VNA
