The celebration organised by the Vietnamese Embassy in Phnom Penh onSept. 2 saw the presence of Chairman of the Cambodian National AssemblyHeng Samrin, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Men Som Ol and DeputyPrime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong, among royalrepresentatives and others.

Speaking at the ceremony,Vietnamese Ambassador Ngo Anh Dung laid special emphasis on the closerelationship between Vietnamese and Cambodian people, expressing hisbelief that the bonds will be preserved and develop forever.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong conveyedcongratulations to Vietnam on the occasion and wished thetraditional friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the twopeoples further development.

In Sydney, Australia, theVietnamese Embassy held a ceremony to mark the special day with theparticipation of Australia’s high-ranking Government officials,parliamentarians and experts, and overseas Vietnamese people.

Ambassador Hoang Vinh Thanh recalled the great achievements Vietnamese people have recorded over the past 68 years.

With the foundation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now theSocialist Republic of Vietnam) in September 2, 1945 , thecountry has put its name on the world’s map and now become atrustworthy, responsible and dynamic partner in the internationalcommunity, the diplomat said.

He noted all-round development ofthe Vietnam-Australia relationship since the two countries establishedtheir diplomatic ties four decades ago, with Australia being the 8th largest trade partner of Vietnam .
The same day, theVietnamese Consulate General in Australia’s Perth city organiseda cultural and culinary festival to celebrate the 68 th anniversary ofVietnam ’s August Revolution and National Day.

A solemnceremony also took place in Algeria on the day with the attendanceof Algerian Minister of War Veterans Cherif Abbes and Minister ofIndustry, SMEs and Investment Promotion Mohamed Benmeradi.

Earlier on Sept. 1, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Duong Chi Dunghosted a banquet on the occasion of the National Day for representativesof the French Foreign Ministry, foreign diplomatic corps and theoverseas Vietnamese community in the country.

Ambassador Dungsaid the bilateral ties between Vietnam and France haveunceasingly grown over the past four decades, and the forthcoming visitto France by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung later this month isexpected to establish a strategic partnership between the two countries.

Vietnam ’s National Day was marked in Sri Lanka with ameeting held by the Sri Lanka-Vietnam Solidarity Association inMawanella city. The Secretary General of the Sri Lanka Communist Partyand Minister of Human Resources D.E.W.Gunasekara attended the event.-VNA
