Vietnamese diplomatic missions in many countries continue to host various events to celebrate the National Day (September 2).
The celebration organised by the Vietnamese Embassy in Phnom Penh on Sept. 2 saw the presence of Chairman of the Cambodian National Assembly Heng Samrin, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Men Som Ol and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong, among royal representatives and others.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador Ngo Anh Dung laid special emphasis on the close relationship between Vietnamese and Cambodian people, expressing his belief that the bonds will be preserved and develop forever.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong conveyed congratulations to Vietnam on the occasion and wished the traditional friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two peoples further development.
In Sydney, Australia, the Vietnamese Embassy held a ceremony to mark the special day with the participation of Australia’s high-ranking Government officials, parliamentarians and experts, and overseas Vietnamese people.
Ambassador Hoang Vinh Thanh recalled the great achievements Vietnamese people have recorded over the past 68 years.
With the foundation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) in September 2, 1945 , the country has put its name on the world’s map and now become a trustworthy, responsible and dynamic partner in the international community, the diplomat said.
He noted all-round development of the Vietnam-Australia relationship since the two countries established their diplomatic ties four decades ago, with Australia being the 8 th largest trade partner of Vietnam .
The same day, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Australia’s Perth city organised a cultural and culinary festival to celebrate the 68 th anniversary of Vietnam ’s August Revolution and National Day.
A solemn ceremony also took place in Algeria on the day with the attendance of Algerian Minister of War Veterans Cherif Abbes and Minister of Industry, SMEs and Investment Promotion Mohamed Benmeradi.
Earlier on Sept. 1, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Duong Chi Dung hosted a banquet on the occasion of the National Day for representatives of the French Foreign Ministry, foreign diplomatic corps and the overseas Vietnamese community in the country.
Ambassador Dung said the bilateral ties between Vietnam and France have unceasingly grown over the past four decades, and the forthcoming visit to France by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung later this month is expected to establish a strategic partnership between the two countries.
Vietnam ’s National Day was marked in Sri Lanka with a meeting held by the Sri Lanka-Vietnam Solidarity Association in Mawanella city. The Secretary General of the Sri Lanka Communist Party and Minister of Human Resources D.E.W.Gunasekara attended the event.-VNA
