Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam are ready to compete at the Asian Wrestling Championships to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, on February 17.
The team includes five freestyle female wrestlers such as Nguyen Thi Lua (53kg category), Vu Thi Hang (48kg) and Pham Thi Loan (55kg).
The event will be part of their preparations for the 2016 Rio Olympics qualifiers to be held in Kazakhstan in April.
According to Nguyen The Long, head of the wrestling department of the National Sports Administration, Lua and Hang are the team's greatest hopes for securing a berth in Brazil this summer. They have gained lot of experience in international competitions, with Lua having competed at the London Olympics in 2012.
The Vietnamese squad have had a short training session in China to prepare for the Asian tournament that will end on February 21.-VNA

Vietnamese hopeful Nguyen Thi Lua has made it through to the 2012 London Olympics, the world’s largest sporting event, after winning a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic-Asian Wrestling Qualifiers in Kazakhstan on April 1.
