The Vietnam-Russia International Ophthalmology Hospital (VRIOH) on Sept. 20 provided free-of-charge eye checks-up and consultancy for children of the Hanoi SOS village, beginning its humanitarian campaign to mark the World Sight Day (Oct. 9).

On the first day of the campaign, Vietnamese and Russian doctors checked the eyes of 160 children and their carers of the SOS village. Some of them will receive treatment or surgeries at the hospital.

Duong Chi Kien, President of the Board of Directors of the VRIOH Joint Stock Company, said that the campaign focussed on students in Hanoi and would run through October.

He stressed that the drive was the hospital’s wish to join hand to protect health for the country’s future generations.

Kien said students would not only receive eye checks-up and treatment, but also know how to care and protect their eyes, thus improving their health and ensuring their study.

The VRIOH was established in February this year under a cooperation agreement between the VRIOH Joint Stock Company and Eye Fyodorov Microsurgery of Russia , within the framework of the cooperation programme between the two governments to meet eye care demand of the Vietnamese people./.
