Hanoi (VNA) – The ten winners of the 2015 Outstanding Vietnamese Youth awards were announced at a ceremony to mark the 85th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU) on March 21.

The HCMCYU awards were presented to 10 prominent people under 35 years old who stood out in scientific research, production, business operation, defence, security and order, culture, arts, sports, social affairs and other voluntary activities in 2015.

The 10 awardees were chosen from 20 outstanding contestants, narrowed down from 172 nominees introduced by numerous organisations and agencies. The remaining 10 received awards for young promising faces of the year.

Making it to the top ten list were 22 years-old Le Yen Thanh from Faculty of Information Technology, University of Natural Science under Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; 19 years-old Nguyen The Hoan from University of Natural Science under Vietnam National University, Hanoi; and PhD Tran Ha Lien Phuong, age 35 from Ho Chi Minh City International University under Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.

Winners of the awards also included Phan Thanh Sang, 32 years old, owner of Ysaochid Orchid Farm; Dinh Thi Bich Chau, 34, General Manager of Hoan Chau Investment Co., ltd; Senior Lieutenant Tran Thanh Luan, 28 years old, from Vietnam People’s Air Force; and Captain Ngo Ngoc Tran, 32 years-old, from the Ministry of Public Security.

Vietnam’s top tennis player 19-year-old Ly Hoang Nam, singer Ha Anh Tuan, 32 years old and Nguyen Thuy Tien, 28 years-old, manager and co-coordinator at the Vietnam Breast Cancer Network were also on the list.

Addressing the ceremony, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission Vuong Dinh Hue spoke highly of the HCMCYU and the Vietnam Young Talent Support Fund’s initiative to organise the awards to honour young people with excellent achievements in their field of work since 1996.

He asked relevant authorities, organisations and enterprises to give more support for the development of Vietnamese young talents.-VNA
