Vietnam’s exports to Brazil in the first half of 2014 surged by 33.3 percent year on year to hit 732.6 million USD, according to preliminary statistics from the Latin American country’s Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
Over the period, Vietnam imported 542.5 million USD worth of commodities from Brazil, up 2.2 percent from a year earlier.
Two-way trade climbed 18 percent annually to approximate 1.3 billion USD despite an overall 3.6 percent fall in Brazil’s foreign trade.
Vietnam exports mainly telephone accessories, footwear, frozen fish fillet, synthetic fiber, and integrated circuit to the Latin American country, while importing maize, soybean, soybean by-products, tobacco and footwear materials, and cotton.
In 2013, bilateral trade jumped by 42.3 percent from the previous year to reach a record high of 2.33 billion USD, helping Brazil maintain its position as Vietnam’s largest Latin American trade partner.-VNA
