Vietnam’s first university takes international quality verification
The University of Science under the Vietnam National University has become the first in Vietnam to undergo quality assessment based on the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance standard.

The VNU University of Science is also the first university in Southeast Asia to take the AUN-QA examination.
Addressing the event, Nantana Gajaseni, AUN General Executive Director said the accreditation programme at the university level aims to comprehensively assess the quality of training and research in the educational institution, and evaluate the efficiency of its internal quality assurance system.
The application of the standards is aimed at improving the quality of universities in the Southeast Asian region.
The five-day programme was joined by educational experts and managers from universities in the region.
In 2012-2015, the VNU University of Science had six bachelor training programmes verified under the AUN-QA standard, which are the majors of chemistry, biology, mathematics, physics, geology and environmental science. Of which, the training programmes in chemistry and geology got 5.0 marks – the second highest score in Southeast Asia.
After the assessment programmes of training programmes in universities, this is the first time the AUN has carried out the accreditation at the university-level.-VNA
