Hanoi (VNA) – A high-ranking delegation from the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) led by Sen. Lieut. Gen Phan Van Giang, member of the Party Central Committee and the Central Military Commission’s Standing Board, Chief of the VPA General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defence, is paying an official friendship visit to Japan from March 2 to 5.

The visit is made at the invitation of Admiral Katsutoshi Kawano, Chief of Staff of the Japan Self-Defense Forces.

During this visit, the two sides will discuss the socio-economic development situation of each country as well as international and regional issues of mutual concern, while sharing experience in building troops.

They will also review cooperation results in recent years and seek measures to further promote bilateral defence ties in a more effective and practical manner, thereby continuing to strengthen and develop the fine friendship and mutual trust between the States, armies and people of Vietnam and Japan for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.-VNA
