Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in 2017 is a good chancefor the country to promote the image of a dynamic country in reform andinternational integration.

Thetheme “Creating NewDynamism, Fostering A Shared Future” that Vietnam selected for the APEC 2017,which was announced by President Tran Dai Quang at the 24th APEC Summit inLima, Peru, on November 19-20, 2016, received support from all membereconomies, the business community and leading experts.

It reflectedthe shared interest of all member economies in seeking new dynamism for theregion’s economic integration, connectivity and growth.

Thetheme also demonstrated the common long-term goal of the forum, which arepeace, stability, development and prosperity, and at the same time showed expectationof new developments of the forum in 2017, thus contributing to affirming theforum’s position in the new circumstances.

Inorder to realise the theme, Vietnam recommended four priorities that are promotingsustainable, innovative and inclusive growth; boosting extensive economicconnectivity; increasing competitiveness and creativity of micro-, small- andmedium-sized enterprises in the digital era; and strengthening food securityand sustainable agriculture, and climate change adaptation.

Thesuccessful organisation of the APEC 2017 Year is a focus in Vietnam’s externalpolicy on extensive and in-depth international integration.

Byhosting the forum, Vietnam hopes it can make practical contributions to APEC’s developmentand increase the efficiency of APEC cooperation, while boosting the country’s partnershipwith other member economies.

Thisis the second time Vietnam has hosted the Asia-Pacific region’s biggest andmost important economic event. The first time was in 2006.-VNA
