Vietnam’s National Day marked abroad

Vietnamese charged’affaire Lai Xuan Chien praised the overseas Vietnamese in Cambodiafor their great contributions to Vietnam ’s revolution through manyperiods.

He said overseas Vietnamese should strictlyabide by Cambodia ’s law and respect its traditions and customs infurther integrating into the local society, helping foster thefriendship and solidarity between the two countries.

President of the association Tran Van Toi expressed belief in the Partyand State’s consistent policy that considered the Vietnamese communityabroad an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation.

On the same day, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Sydney held aceremony to mark the 66 th anniversary of the August Revolution andNational Day.

At the event, John Kaye, Greens memberof the New South Wales Legislative Council, spoke highly of Vietnam ’sachievements and the development of the relationship between the twocountries as well as contributions made by the Vietnamese community inNew South Wales , the most populous state in Australia .

Vietnamese people in Australia now numbered 300,000 (including thosewith Vietnamese ancestry), with half of them living and working inNew South Wales .

For the same purpose, theVietnamese People’s Association in Bangkok held a get-together and amusic programme on August 29.

Addressing the event,head of the association Nguyen Ngoc Anh reviewed the time Uncle Hostayed and operated in Thailand during his journey to seek ways toliberate the nation.

He affirmed that his associationwill continue upholding the traditions of solidarity for the sake ofVietnamese people in Thailand and to act as a bridge in the twocountries’ friendly neighbouring relations.

Also onAugust 29, the Vietnamese Embassy in Sri Lanka held a ceremony in thecapital city, Colombo to mark Vietnam ’s National Day (Sept. 2).

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Ton SinhThanh highlighted the historical significance of Sept. 2, 1945 forVietnamese people and reviewed Vietnam ’s economic achievements,hunger eradication and poverty reduction and international integration.

The diplomat spoke highly of the development of Vietnam-Sri Lanka relations over past years.

He said he believed that the reopening of Vietnam ’s representativeoffice in Colombo would contribute to promoting the fine traditionalfriendship between the countries.

On August 25, theVietnamese Embassy in Bangladesh held a banquet in the capital city ofDacca to mark one of the nation’s most important events.

Attending the banquet, Bangladeshi Minister of Industry Dilip Baruasaid that the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had paidattention to boosting and expanding the traditional friendship and closecooperation between Bangladesh and Vietnam .

Hesaid he wished that the two sides will make more efforts to diversifycooperation and increase trade, deepening bilateral ties for theinterests of the two countries’ people./.

To further strengthen Vietnam-Belgium relations, especially parliamentary cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, particularly between parliamentary committees and friendship groups. They also pledged to share legislative and supervisory experience, coordinate positions in international organisations, support each other’s candidacies for UN bodies, and effectively implement the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
