Politburo member Dinh The Huynh has urged media agencies to continue renewing themselves to provide up-to-date, accurate, diverse and attractive information, actively contributing to national industrialisation and modernisation.
Dinh The Huynh, who is head of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Commission for Popularisation and Education, made the call on June 21 when visiting Vietnam News Agency (VNA), the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, Nhan Dan Newspaper and Quan doi Nhan dan Newspaper on the occasion of Vietnam’s 88 th Revolutionary Press Day.
During the visits, the Party official congratulated journalists and media agencies nationwide and spoke highly of the generations of Vietnamese journalists’ great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and people.
He expressed his hope that media outlets nationwide will continue upholding the glorious tradition of Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press and make more effort to fulfil their assigned tasks.
When visiting the VNA, Huynh praised the agency for its contributions to national construction and development, saying that the VNA has brought into full play its role as a strategic and reliable information agency of the Party and State.
He said he hoped that with its position as the country’s key channel of external services, the VNA will continue popularising the Party and State’s guidelines, polices, and viewpoints as well as promoting the image of Vietnam, its people, culture and economic cooperation potential to international friends.
VNA General Director Nguyen Duc Loi committed to renovating the agency’s operations to fulfill its assigned political tasks and meet development requirements of the modern press.
The agency will focus on developing different types of publications and build a modern multimedia consortium, the VNA leader said.
VNA has 40 different publications, printed and electronic newspapers, and a television channel VNEWS. It has over 2,300 employees working in 63 bureaus in cities and provinces nationwide, and 30 bureaus overseas.
Earlier, the Vietnamese Embassies in Laos and Russia also held meetings to celebrate the 88 th anniversary of Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press Day.
Resident reporters and journalists from the VNA, Vietnam Television (VTV), Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and Nhan Dan Newspaper gathered at the meetings.
They were asked to provide faster, more trustworthy and quality coverage of the host countries as well as their relations with Vietnam.-VNA
