Vietsovpetro, the Vietnam-Russia oil and gas joint venture, has pumped an estimated 6.11 million tonnes of crude oil in 2012, meeting its annual goal.

The figure was revealed at the 41st regular meeting of the joint venture’s council on December 19 in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

At the meeting, General Director Nguyen Huu Tuyen said that 2012 marks the fourth consecutive year that Vietsovpetro has earned over 5 billion USD from the sale of crude oil.

This year, the joint venture has put into exploitation an additional 34 oil wells, five more than the planned 29.

For 2013, Vietsovpetro has set a target of exploiting 5.4 million tonnes of crude oil and nearly 1.3 billion cu.m of gas.-VNA
