Vinh Long increases housing support to the poor

The gifts, worth a combined 10.65 billion VND (over 502,000 USD), showthe province’s efforts in mobilising all possible resources to supportlocal poor households.

The southern locality set a target ofcutting the rate of poor households by 1.3 percent in 2014, striving tomobilise 150 billion VND (7.07 million USD) donated by organisations andbusinesses to implement social programmes focusing on providing poorand near-poor households with housing support and health insurancecards.

It has been collaborating with VietinBank to promote thebank’s 15.5 billion VND (around 738,000 USD) funding package to buildanother 350 houses for poor locals this year, of which 132 were alreadycompleted.

The funding has also been used to build someclassrooms for Son Ca nursery school in Vinh Long city and providemedical equipment for the city’s general hospital.

Vinh Longnow has 12,623 poor households, or 4.57 percent of the total number oflocal households, and 13,566 near-poor households, 4.92 percent.

It is striving to expand various social activities and programmes,with priority given to vocational training, job generation, productiondevelopment and housing support.-VNA

Quang Ngai to remove hundreds of unregistered fishing vessels

To date, Quang Ngai has 5,194 registered fishing vessels, with data regularly updated in the National Fisheries Database (VNFishbase). The provincial licensing rate for fishing activities has reached 81.94%, while 99% of local vessels required to install vessel monitoring systems (VMS) have complied.

A total of 351 communes free of temporary, dilapidated houses

From February 21-28, 7,540 temporary and dilapidated houses were renovated or replaced nationwide, bringing the total number of facilities improved under humanitarian policy to 115,481. Of these, 62,737 houses were inaugurated, while construction began on another 52,744.

Tay Ninh strives to eliminate temporary houses by Q2

In 2025, the southwestern province plans to rebuild or renovate 567 houses under its temporary housing eradication plan, including 443 new constructions and 124 repairs, with an estimated budget of over 44.8 billion VND (1.75 million USD).
