The Vietnamese embassy to Japan on May 16 attended a charity fair in Tokyo raising relief funds for victims of the powerful earthquake and tsunami on March 11.
The two-day event was jointly organised by the ambassadors of 14 Asia- Pacific countries from May 16-17.
Nobuko Kan , the wife of Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan , attended the opening ceremony.
During the fair, Vietnam and other countries displayed fine arts, handicraft products and popular goods and introduced traditional foods which featured the countries’ national character.
According to Le Thieu Ngan, wife of Vietnamese ambassador Nguyen Phu Binh, the proceeds from the sales of these products will be handed over to the organisation board to aid children who were in the natural disaster area in Japan./.
