The Vietnam Business Association in Cambodia opened its first general meeting in Phnom Penh on June 22 almost one year after it was founded on August 15, 2010.

The meeting heard a letter of congratulations from Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Thanh Son, hailing the efforts made by the association in uniting overseas businesses to tap their potential in investment and business.

Son, who doubles as Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, recognised expatriate businesses’ assistance for the Vietnamese community in Cambodia as well as their alliance with fellow businesses both in the fatherland and other parts of the world to promote Vietnamese products.

Vietnamese Ambassador Ngo Anh Dung called on Vietnamese business circles to abide by Cambodian law and take care of the Vietnamese-Cambodian community.

The meeting passed a resolution on directions and tasks for the next four years up to 2014, focused on increasing memberships.

Trade promotion campaigns and programmes of promoting Vietnamese trademarks in Cambodia are other priorities.

The Vietnamese Business Association in Cambodia (VBAC) should expand operations and serve as a channel to distribute Vietnamese goods in the Angkor Wat market, the resolution emphasised.

Vice President of the Vietnamese-Cambodian General Association Nguyen Van Dung, who is also Director of the F.D. Pharma Company, was elected as VBAC Chairman./.
