The Tay Ninh provincial People’s Court and the Court of First Instance of Cambodia’s Kompong Cham province will step up cooperation in the fight against cross-border crime in the coming time.
An agreement to this effect was inked on January 3, under which the two sides will also exchange experience in making judgments while enhancing mutual understanding and friendship within the framework of the joint statement issued at a conference of courts of border provinces of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia in October 2012.
According to Nguyen Hoa Hiep, Chief Judge of the Tay Ninh People’s Court, with a border line of more than 240 kilometres, the southern province has seen a complicated crime situation, significantly affecting the operation of the court and other relevant sectors.
He also highlighted an urgent need for Vietnam and Cambodia to accelerate the completion of their legal systems, build bilateral and multilateral treaties on cooperation in combating crime and conduct judicial support.-VNA
