Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made this statement at a reception for visiting Indian Minister of Commerce, Industry and Textiles Anand Sharma in Hanoi on Mar. 8.
Dung said Minister Sharma’s visit to Vietnam will contribute to further boosting Vietnam – India cooperation on the basis of the two countries’ great potential.
The two countries have seen strong development in economic, trade and investment cooperation over the past years with two-way trade reaching nearly 4 billion USD last year.
Dung said he believes that strong development will be a driving force for the two countries to achieve 7 billion USD in bilateral trade in the future.
The PM said he hopes India will create favourable conditions for Vietnamese goods to enter the country, affirming Vietnam always supports India’s investment projects in Vietnam, especially large-scale projects.
The PM also expressed hope that the two sides will work closely this year to host activities to mark the 40 th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the fifth anniversary of strategic partnership between the two countries.
Minister Sharma expressed strong impressions of the socio-economic achievements made by Vietnam.
He proposed the establishment of a committee at the departmental level to deal with difficulties and step up bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, information technology and pharmaceuticals in the near future.-VNA
