Voters appreciate leadership, management of Party, State, Government in COVID-19 response

Voters and people across the country highly trust and appreciate the leadership of the Party and State, the instruction and management of the Government and the Prime Minister, along with the active engagement of the entire political system in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF).

Hanoi (VNA) – Voters and people across the country highly trust and appreciate theleadership of the Party and State, the instruction and management of theGovernment and the Prime Minister, along with the active engagement of theentire political system in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, according tothe Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF).

The VFFpresented a report on opinions and petitions of voters and people to theopening sitting of the 9th session of the 14th NationalAssembly in Hanoi on May 20. 

President ofthe VFF Central Committee Tran Thanh Man said following the NA’s 8th session, the Presidium of the VFF Central Committee, in coordination with theNA Standing Committee, received and summed up 3,385 opinions and petitionssubmitted by voters and people nationwide through NA delegations in localitiesand VFF organisations at all levels.

OverseasVietnamese voiced their thanks to the Party and State for bringing those indisadvantaged situation back to the country. They also praised the supportprovided by Vietnam to countries hit by the pandemic.

The publicalso acknowledged the Party and State’s proactive and flexible leadership andmanagement in implementing the dual tasks of fighting the epidemic andmaintaining production and business.

Theyapplauded the support package worth 62 trillion VND (2.66 billion USD) for thepoor and vulnerable groups in society, while calling for transparency and closemonitoring to ensure the support reach the right beneficiaries.   

Voters andthe public expressed concern over the biggest ever difficulties and challengesas the pandemic has caused widespread impacts on every field in social life andthe economy.

They askedthe State to promote the development of the support industry to reducedependence on imports for material supply, and work to better tap new marketsin partner countries in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement forTrans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement(EVFTA).

Voters andthe public also highly valued acknowledged the efforts made by the health caresector in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, they areindignant at some violations of bidding and purchasing of medical equipmentthat caused losses to the State, calling for strict punishment of such illegalacts.  

Besides thepandemic, the Mekong Delta is facing unprecedented erosion, drought and salineintrusion, while the northern mountainous provinces are hit by whirlwinds andhailstorms.

Voters askedthe State to continue implementing concerted measures to mitigate losses causedby natural disasters and stabilise agricultural production and people’s life.

Based onvoters and people’s opinions and petitions, the Presidium of the VFF CentralCommittee made several major proposals to the NA and the Government, includingbuilding and effectively implementing socio-economic development plans in thenew situation in combination with COVID-19 control measures. The Government’ssupport packages should be implemented quickly to help enterprises earlyrestore production and business activities and people overcome difficulties./.
