War Invalids and Martyrs Day observed in Hanoi

A ceremony was held in Hanoi on July 24 to mark the 75th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, with the attendance of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, along with State leaders and 450 representatives of millions of people who made contributions to the revolution.

Hanoi (VNA) – A ceremony was held in Hanoion July 24 to mark the 75th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, withthe attendance of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, along with State leaders and 450representatives of millions of people who made contributions to the revolution.

Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs DaoNgoc Dung said the support for war veterans has resulted in significantachievements over the past 75 years, including more comprehensive and inclusivepolicies.

Currently, there are more than 9.2 million knowncontributors to the revolution, including 1.2 million martyrs, more than 139,000 Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, 1,300 Heroes of People's Armed Forces and Labour Heroes, nearly 800,000 war invalids and 320,000 others who were exposed to toxicchemicals.

Speaking at the event, President Phuc express hisgratitude and said that throughout the course of history, millions of peoplehave dedicated their youth and bravely sacrificed their lives for theterritorial integrity and sovereignty of the fatherland.

The wars were over, but their consequences stillremain in various areas and families across the country, said the President.

He gave high regards to war veterans, martyrs andtheir families for overcoming challenges, and making positive political andsocial contributions to their localities.

In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of WarInvalids and Martyrs Day, a budget of 400 billion VND (17 million USD) has beendedicated to gifts for over 1.3 million people who contributed to therevolution.

The entire political system and organisations,individuals and communities have mobilised resources for constructions that paytribute to the martyrs, while also focusing on the search and identification ofmartyrs’ remains.

President Phuc said: “Vietnamese people will alwaysremember and be proud of the unyielding will of the previous generations whosacrificed their lives to the country, bringing us independence and peace oftoday.”/.

19 localities eradicate substandard houses

Vietnam accelerates repatriation of citizens detained in Myanmar
