(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) –Winners of an online quiz on the history of the special Vietnam-Laos andLaos-Vietnam relations were awarded at a ceremony held in Hanoi on December 12.
Participants at the eventincluded Pham Binh Minh, Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister; and Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and head of the PCC's Commission for Information and Education.
Khamphanh Pheuyavong, Secretaryof the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and head ofthe LPRP Central Committee’s Commission for Propaganda and Training andLao Ambassador to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang also joined the ceremony.
Addressing the event, Nghiasaid the contest has contributed to educating people of the two countries,especially youngsters, on the special friendship between Vietnam and Laosduring the past struggle for national liberation as well as socialism building cause at present.
The official suggested that ministries, agencies, organisations, localities andbusinesses of the two countries work together to elevate Vietnam-Laos relationsto new heights, thereby enhancing the position and prestige of the two Partiesand countries in the international arena, thus making positive contributions topeace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
The contest formed part ofactivities to mark the Vietnam-Laos and Laos-Vietnam Solidarity andFriendship Year 2022, the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties (September 5,1962 – 2022), and 45 years of the signing of the Treaty of Amity andCooperation (July 18, 1977 – 2022), he noted.
The system counted 681,291 people joining thecontest, including more than 2,000 Lao nationals and many contestants of othernationalities.
The quiz was available weekly at the www.vietlao.dangcongsan.vn. It was jointlyorganised by the Communist Review – the magazine of the Communist Party ofVietnam (CPV), social network VCNet and other press agencies.
The organising board awarded 12 first prizes, 24 second prizes and 60 third prizes to winners of the contest.
The PCC’s Commission for Informationand Education also presented certificates of merit to localities andcollectives who had made outstanding contributions to the contest.
A special art performance praising the traditional friendship and comprehensivecooperation between Vietnam and Laos was held on the occasion./.
