
Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Construction ofthe eastern section of the North-South Expressway will start next year, and isscheduled to finish by 2021, the Ministry of Transport (MoT) announced onSeptember 17.
The expressway will be 654km in length and hastotal investment of 118.7 trillion VND (5.1 billion USD).
The expressway will run through 13 provinces andcities from the northern province of Nam Dinh to the southern province of VinhLong.
The expressway will be separated into 11sub-projects, of which three are public ones, and eight are implemented in apublic-private-partnership (PPP) model.
The MoT has sought Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’sapproval for state investment in three sub-projects. The three projects willcover three parts of the expressway, Mai Son-Highway No 45, Highway No 45-NghiSon and Dau Giay-Phan Thiet.
The MoT also sought the PM’s approval forinvestment from the state budget for the remaining PPP sub-projects.
It is expected that the MoT will choosecontractors for sub-projects this month. Technological design will be conductedfrom next month to August next year.
The selection of investors will be implementedfrom October this year to March 2020. Ground clearance is scheduled to finishby October 2020.
Sub-projects under the PPP form will be kickedoff by the end of March 2020 and finished in 2021.
The MoT is conducting technological design forthe three sub-projects with state investment, and construction work on them isexpected to start in April next year.
At a meeting of the National Assembly (NA) inNovember last year, the NA deputies agreed to invest in different parts of theNorth-South Expressway.-VNS/VNA
