Work starts on 3.2 bln USD petrochemical refinery complex

Work on a 3.2 billion USD petrochemical refinery complex started September 9 in Phu Yen.
The ground-breaking ceremony for a 3.2 billion USD petrochemical refinery complex was held on September 9 in the central province of Phu Yen.

The project covers 538 hectares, including 404 ha for a refinery and 134ha for a port.

The refinery has an annual capacity of 8 million tonnes of products, including polypropylene, benzene, toluene, petrol RON 92 and RON 95.

The Vung Ro petrochemical refinery complex is Phu Yen’s largest FDI project, and the third of its kind in Vietnam following the Nghi Son and Dung Quat petrochemical refinery complexes in central Thanh Hoa and Quang Ngai provinces, respectively.

Once operational in 2017, the complex will attract investment in petrochemicals and supporting industry, while generating more jobs for local people and aid other fields’ development.-VNA
