Hanoi (VNA) – Construction on a Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Memorial began in the Cambodian province of Battambang on May 12.
The memorial covers an area of more than 10,000 sq.m surrounded by greenery, costing an estimated 500,000 USD funded by the Vietnamese government.
Addressing the ground-breaking ceremony, Battambang governor Chan Saphol expressed gratitude to Vietnamese voluntary soldiers for their support to the provincial authorities and people.
He said the memorial will be a symbol of the friendship and solidarity between the two peoples, and between Battambang and the Vietnamese government, army and people in particular.-VNA
