A ceremony was held in Krong Bong district, central highlands Dak Lak province, on December 26 to kick off construction of the Krong Kmar Bridge as part of the third phase of a Japan-funded project to build rural bridges in the central region.
Under a plan for the phase, four bridges will be built in Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan provinces.
Once completed, the project will help improve transport infrastructure, facilitate people’s daily activities and reduce traffic accidents, thus promoting the local economic development.
At the ceremony, Japanese Counsellor Hirofumi Miyake expressed his belief that the project will contribute to strengthening the friendship and understanding between the two peoples.
According to the Japanese Embassy, the Japanese Government has so far provided non-refundable aid of nearly 7.5 billion JPY (88 million USD) to build and repair 29 bridges in 16 northern mountainous provinces and 38 others in 18 Mekong Delta localities.-VNA
