The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) will provide 213,773 USD for a conservation project for Sao La deer (Pseudoryx nghetinhensis) in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.

Hoang Ngoc Khanh, chief of the provincial People’s Committee Office said on October 13 that the project would be carried out from January to December 2011, at the Sao La deer conservation area and in Bach Ma National Park’s expanded area.

It is hoped that the project will save and increase the numbers of Sao La deer and several other threatened species that are at risk of extinction such as the languor, white-cheeked gibbon and some other newly-discovered species./.
