Hanoi (VNA) - The Asian Youth Xiangqi(Chinese chess) Championship Vietnam Open will take place in Ha Long city innortheastern Quang Ninh province from December 15-20.

Nearly 100 players from six countries andterritories have registered to take part in the event. They will compete incategories for boys and girls in seven age groups ranging from seven to 20.

Among the title favourites are Dinh Tran ThanhLam, Dao Thi Thuy Tien and Nguyen Minh Hao of the hosts and Huang Xiao Hang ofChina, Lee Han Wei of Singapore, Sou Chon Hou from Macau and Qiu Yu Kai ofChinese Taipei.

It is the first international tournament organisedby the Vietnam Xiangqi Federation after it separated from the Vietnam ChessFederation six months ago.-VNA
