Hanoi (VNA) – The resolution of the 7th plenum of the 10th Party Central Committee on strengthening the Party’s leadership on youth work in the period of intensifying industrialisation and modernisation has affirmed that young people are the pillar, the future owner of the country, and the pioneering force in the construction and defence of the Fatherland, as well as one of the decisive factors to the success of the cause of national industrialisation, modernisation, international integration and socialism building.

The role of young people, especially young Party members, has always been highly valued, which is considered one of the important driving forces to inject new blood into the Party and enhance the Party’s combat capacity.

In the spirit of “Party members lead the way for people to follow”, young Party members across the country, be in remote border areas or big cities, have always led the way in renewing the way of thinking and renovating the models of production and economic activities. Inheriting the values of previous generations, the young generation are playing a core role in Party building and firmly protecting the Party’s ideological foundation.

On the occasion of the 90th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 – 2020), VietnamPlus will publish a three-part series on young Party members: Pledges full of youthful vitality.

We join the Party with a pure heart

Now 94 years old, Nguyen Huu Phuc, former deputy director of the Department of Organisation and Training under the Ministry of Culture and Information, now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, still cannot forget the day he was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam.

75 years ago: unforgettable memories

Phuc recalled that at that time, he was only a 16-year-old student at the Buoi high school, but already participated in revolutionary activities in Hanoi. One year later, he was sent to a training class for Party members in Cam Giang (Hai Hung province in the past) by Le Quang Dao (who was secretary of the Party committee of Hanoi during 1943-1944 – reporter’s note).

Phuc said the class was named after Hoang Van Thu who had just been killed in prison. The name reminded the young Party members that when a Party member fell, a generation of young Party members would continue to follow in his footsteps.

Phuc was officially admitted to the Party in 1944 at the age of 17. He, together with more than 20 comrades from Hanoi’s Party organisation and the Party’s central level, joined in the preparations for the August Revolution which took place in 1945.

75 years have passed and the young man then has now become a white-haired old man. But he can still recall clearly the boisterous days leading up to the August Revolution.

“We sought all ways to spread leaflets as far as possible. Besides, we held quick presentations on the street or crowded places right under police’s nose. Such presentations lasted only several minutes, and the speaker would quickly disappear, leaving only a red flag with gold star,” Phuc recalled.

On the eve of the general uprising, thousands of young people had gathered to fight for the revolution, with the flame of ideology burning in their hearts.

Under the Party’s close instruction, the contingent of young revolutionaries in Hanoi continued to grow. On the eve of the general uprising, thousands of young people had gathered to fight for the revolution, with the flame of ideology burning in their hearts.

Looking back the past, Phuc said his young days were also the Party’s young days, and his generation joined the Party with a pure heart.

“In those days, we always kept in mind that the responsibility of young people, especially young Party members, is to fight for the fatherland’s independence. No one of us was interested in benefits or fame, we just tried our best to fulfil assigned tasks,” he said.

A special Party admission ceremony in historical February

75 years after the day Phuc was admitted to the Party, another special Party admission ceremony was held in the capital city.

In the morning of February 1, two young people representing Hanoi youth were admitted to the Party at two ceremonies held at the historical sites at No 90 Tho Nhuom Street and No 5D Ham Long Street.

Young people, especially young Party members, create the power for the Party

Secretary of the municipal committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Nguyen Ngoc Viet affirmed that the past 90 years have proved that young people, especially young Party members, create the power for the Party. They are both a source of strength and a driving force for the Party’s unceasing development.

Sharing this view, veteran Party member Nguyen Huu Phuc said young Party members will bring youth to the Party.

“The important thing for each Party member is to know what to do in order to stay at the forefront of the revolution,” Phuc stressed./.
