A group of young people in the central city of Da Nang have joined hands to pick up trash in an area of 300 sq.m on Son Tra peninsula, spreading awareness of environmental protection in response to the #Trashtag Challenge trend.

The black rock area on the Son Tra peninsula is a hard-to-access location as it has been heavily littered by rubbish brought in from the sea. A campaign calling on young people to clear the area has been launched on social network sites, receiving warm response from nearly 50 volunteers.

Through popular and widely-shared posts on social media platforms, people from different localities met up and worked together to clean up trash in the rock area.

The active young residents intend to call on more volunteers to continue the cleanup due to the massive scale of  work that remains to be done. –VNA
