Quang Nam (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh CommunistYouth Union (HCMCYU) and the Vietnam Youth Federation launched a programme called “In the footstepsof the nation’s heroes”, in the central province of Quang Nam on May 21, aspart of activities marking the 70th Day of WarInvalids and Martyrs (July 27, 1947-2017).   

The eventis a chance for the youth to show gratitude toward people who have renderedservices to the nation and the national liberation revolution and their familiesthrough practical activities such as providing free-of-charge health checkups, houseupgrade and cemetery clean-up.

At the launching ceremony,President of the Vietnam Youth Federation (VYF) Nguyen Phi Long called for engagementin and support for the programme from young people nationwide.

On the occasion, theHCMCYU and the VYF presented local heroic mothers 100 gifts valued at 100million VND (4,422 USD) in total.

Twenty scholarships forchildren of war invalids were also granted.

The same day, the Vietnam YoungEntrepreneurs Association started construction of 4 charity houses worth 200million VND (8,844 USD) in the local Dien Ban town, alongside a free health checkupand medicine distribution event.-VNA

Search efforts continue for Vietnamese fallen soldiers in Cambodia
