– The Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia will establish a tourism development fund and develop a plan to train around 50,000 tourism industry workers annually from now to 2025.

Addressing a conference of the tourism sector in late June, Tourism Minister Thong Khon said the plan forms part of the strategy to develop human resources for the tourism sector.

The strategy will focus on training necessary skills for the sector’s workforce to meet the industry’s stricter requirements in the coming time.

The Government of Cambodia has estimated that the tourism sector needs about 500,000 personnel.

The sector has created jobs for 2.3 million people, including 620,000 insiders.

It has set a target of serving 7 million foreign visitors by 2020.-VNA
