Cambodia and the Republic of Korea (RoK) have agreed to boost bilateral cooperation across fields of education, trade, investment and tourism, according to Cambodian foreign ministry spokesman Chum Sounry.

Talking to reporters on October 14, the spokesman said the two sides reached the agreement at a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hor Namhong and the RoK’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of political affairs Kim Hong-kyun in Phnom Penh earlier on the day.

Deputy PM Hor Namhong thanked RoK government for providing Cambodia with official development assistance (ODA) worth 21 million USD in 2014 and 23 million USD in 2015, while giving permission to 50,000 Cambodians to work in the RoK.

The two sides also discussed ways to enhance relations between the RoK and ASEAN member states.

They expressed their hope for a peaceful solution to the Korean peninsula situation and improvements in relations between the RoK and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), according to the spokesman.-VNA
